Portions of Regina Beach evacuated following explosion

Town officials in Regina Beach declared a state of emergency Wednesday following an explosion that wrecked several properties.

A leaking underground natural gas line is believed to have been a factor in the blast, which happened at about 2:30 p.m. CST.

People who live within 800 metres of the site of the explosion were told to leave their homes.

Officials said Wednesday that natural gas service and water service would be shut off to portions of the town.

There were no injuries reported, due to the explosion.

Officials from SaskEnergy said crews were working to repair the ruptured natural gas line and ensure other lines in the area were safe.
