Prairie curve: 5 new cases of COVID-19, 9 more recoveries

Five more cases of COVID-19 have been detected in Saskatchewan, the province announced Thursday. One of the new cases is presumptive.

Five new cases of COVID-19 were announced in SaskatchewanThursday, the same day the province announced its plans to reboot the provincial economy.

One of those new cases is presumptive andawaiting confirmation. Nine more people have recovered, meaning there are 57 remaining active cases of COVID-19 in the province.

The number of cases with no known cause, or possible community transmission, is 33out of 331 total cases since the novel coronavirus was first detected.

Of those, 150 cases are from the Saskatoon area,71 from the Regina area, 62 from the north, 15 from the south, 11 from the central region and 22 from the far north, according to a provincial breakdown.

Nineteen cases are active in Saskatchewan's far north. One of those cases is presumptive and is awaiting confirmation. (CBC)

So far, 136 of Saskatchewan's cases have been linked to travel and142linked to mass gatherings. Another 23 cases are currently under investigation for possible cause.

Six people are currently in hospital. One person is in the intensive care unit.
