Regina shooting is 6th case of gunfire in recent weeks

Police in Regina are investigating a shooting incident Wednesday that sent a 31-year-old man to hospital. In recent weeks, there have been six incidents involving gunfire, including four cases leading to injuries.

Police in Regina are investigating a shooting Wednesday that sent a 31-year-old man to hospital. In recent weeks, there have been six incidents in the city involving gunfire, including four cases leading to injuries.

The latest incident had police dispatched to the 1500 block of Garnet Street around 6 p.m. CST.

They were responding to a report about a man who had been shot outside a residence. The injured man was taken to hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries.

Police said they are investigating the case and no charges relating to the shooting of the man had been laid as of Friday.

Since about mid-April there have been six cases where firearms were discharged. In four cases people were injured.

The cases include a shooting at a Regina nightclub the Pump Roadhouse. Police continue to investigate that case and have issued an arrest warrant for a 30-year-old man.

  • June 8 (6 p.m.) - 1500 block Garnet. Man, 32, injured by gunfire.
  • May 21 (3:15 a.m.) - 700 block Garnet Street. Reports of gunshots in the area.
  • May 8 (3:56 a.m.) - 700 block Garnet Street. Man, 23, injured by gunfire.
  • May 5 (8:15 p.m.) - 2900 block Dewdney Avenue. Man, 21, man seriously wounded after being shot. Four people are facing charges.
  • April 29 (1:10 a.m.) - 600 block of Victoria Avenue East (The Pump Roadhouse). Shooting at nightclub sends two men to hospital.
  • April 19 (2:37 a.m.) - 2300 block Broad Street. Reports of gunshots in the area.

Police have also reported a number of recent cases where firearms were involved in a crime, but not fired. Those cases include three robberies.
