Police are reminding people about the so-called "CRA Scam" in light of tax season.

On March 22 the Regina police received 50 calls from concerned residents saying they were calledby someone claiming to work for the Canadian Revenue Agency. None of the callers became victims of this scam, butpolice say "the volume of calls suggests that this scam is once again active in Regina and elsewhere."

This scam typically works with the caller saying the person is under investigation and must cooperate or be put under arrest. The conversation can make the victim revealpersonal information or even agree to pay off a fictitious debt.

Saskatoon police have also warned about this scam, as have police agencies across the country.

The Canada Revenue Agency advises that they do not conduct business in this way and invite people to contact them directly if they have questions about their own accounts.
