Sask. pays tribute to fallen soldier

Members of the Saskatchewan legislature paid tribute toLt. Justin Garret Boyes, who was killed Wednesday while on patrol in Afghanistan.

Boyes, 26, was raised in Saskatoon. His military career took him to the 3rd Battalion Princess Patricia's Canadian Light Infantry based in Edmonton.

He leaves his wife, Alanna, and a three-year-old son, James.

Saskatchewan's premier, Brad Wall, spoke Thursday morning aboutBoyes's sacrifice.

"Because of what Justin did and what others are prepared to do and have done in Afghanistan, there are no more camps there that trade in terror, there are fewer threats to our families to our country for those who name Canada as an enemy," Wall said.

"Justin's purchase for us is security and safety and freedom."

Boyes is the 10th soldier with roots in Saskatchewan to die while serving in Afghanistan.
