SaskGaming releases annual report, declares $65.4M income

SaskGaming released its annual report for the 15-month period of 2015-16 on Monday.

The Saskatchewan Gaming Corporation, or SaskGaming, operates Casino Regina and Casino Moose Jaw.

Like the province's other Crown corporations, SaskGaming's fiscal year ended in March 31, 2016.

According to Nancy Heppner, minister responsible for SaskGaming, it was a "successful year" for the Crown corporation.

"We are pleased to support a broad spectrum of initiatives and programs like the First Steps Spinal Cord Injury Wellness Centre to soup kitchens in Moose Jaw and Regina," Heppner said in a news release.

In the 2015-16 annual report, SaskGaming said expenses were reduced $3.8 million compared to 2014.

Here are some of the notable financial figures:

• Revenue: $158.2 million
• Expenses: $92.8 million
• Dividend to the Crown Investments Corporation: $26.1 million
• Payment to general revenue fund: $32.7 million

The $32.7 million payment to the general revenue fund is split between the First Nations trust and the community initiatives fund.

SaskGaming also said a portion of the funds aredirected to the Mtisdevelopment fund.In a 12-month period in 2014, SaskGaming contributed $24.9 million to the general revenue fund.

SaskGamingsaid its total guest count for 2015-16 was 4.39 million people.

In terms of the sources of revenue, SaskGaming said slot revenues dropped by $500,000, while table games increased by $500,000 an increase of 3.5 per cent compared to 2014.

Food and beverage revenuewasdown by $100,000.
