Province investigating death of city worker in Kindersley, Sask.

Mayor Rod Perkins said the death happened around10:30 p.m. CST when three workers were dispatched to an emergency sewer backup in the town's industrial area.

The province is investigating the death of a city worker in Kindersleyon Tuesday night.

Mayor Rod Perkins said ithappened around10:30 p.m. CST when three workers were dispatched to an emergency sewer backup in the town's industrial area.

One of the workersdug out a manhole cover and climbed into the cavity, where he was apparently overcome by poisonous gases, Perkinssaid.

"Everyone is shaken up," Perkins said.

"He was a nice guy, a family man."

Investigators with the province's Occupational Health and SafetyBranch have been to the site where the accident happened.

Kindersley is 200 kilometres southwest of Saskatoon.
