Feds fund 4 new Saskatoon homelessness projects

Four new Saskatoon projects aimed at helping the homeless are getting money from Ottawa..

The government's Homelessness Partnering Strategy (HPS) is giving $464,734 in funding to the Saskatoon Indian and Mtis Friendship Centre and The Lighthouse Supported Living.

The Saskatoon Indian and Mtis Friendship Centre is getting $223,526for three new staff positions to address homelessness. It will also get $35,306 to renovate its client meeting space and lobby.

The Lighthouse Supported Living is getting $55,941 to create a bed bug heating chamber and renovate its laundry facilities. It will also get $150,261 for a staff position to help locate and secure housing for clients.

The funding was announced today by the Saskatoon Housing Initiatives Partnership (SHIP) and the Community Advisory Board on Saskatoon Homelessness (CAB-SH).
