The clash of broadswords and the tension in a good fist fight arejust two of the many selling features of Persephone Theatre's latest production.

Equivocationis a play set in the 1600's. In it, aplaywrite namedShagspeareis commissioned by the king to write a play about the recent Gunpowder Plot, aplan to blow up the king and his court. It's a story of corruption and the need for truth.

This play is full of violence, abeheading, hangings and plenty of punches.

It's that kind of physical acting that takes a lot of support from special effects and a lot of trust between actors.

"With a company like this, it's mind-blowingly fun," says actor Chip Chuipka. "But not all actors are created the same. You run across the odd actor who actually really wants to be a psychopath which is kind of dangerous in a fight scene. Fortunately these guys are perfect actors."

Equivocation hits the stage March 12th and runs until the end of the month.
