Displaced Fort McMurray girl, 15, holds fundraising concert in Saskatoon

Fire brought Olivia Heskett to Saskatoon, and music is guiding her to help her fellow Fort McMurray residents in need.

Heskett and her family fled from the northern Alberta city as wildfires forced around 80,000 others to leave as well. The 15-year-old was only able to grab her guitar as they left Fort McMurray.

"It was crazy ... there was so much emotion," Heskett told CBC Radio'sThe Afternoon Edition. "The sky was like, it was red and filled with black smoke."

Heskett and her family arrived in Saskatoon on Sunday. Now safe from the fires, Heskett is using that same guitar she left with to help people who have lost everything in the growingwildfires.

On Tuesday, she performed at Saskatoon's Somewhere Else Pub, raising $1,200for fire victims.

"I'm going to give it to people who I know have lost their homes and who need help," Heskett said.

As far as she knows, the area Heskett's family lives in is "pretty good".
