Before Codie Prevost was a Saskatchewan country musician, he was a kid in small town Saskatchewan stealing Garth Brooks CDs from his sister's room.

"I just remember getting inspired by his music and remembering how much it spoke to me as a person who grew up in the country," Prevost said.

A few years ago Prevost got to open for Garth Brooks at a Children's Hospital fundraiser, where Brooks played his acoustic guitar.

He describes it as a dream come true.

"You can really tell when you see him in an experience like that, how just normal of a guy he really is," he said. "He just really is here to help people and be the best person he can be."

Prevost will be going to the Garth Brooks show Saturday night. It's one of six in Saskatoon, with concerts starting Thursday evening. Extra shows were added to accommodate the huge demand. Brooks has said he kept the tickets at a reasonable price so that the tickets are available to the average person.

Prevost has also written with songwriters who have worked with Brooks, and says there's "something truthful" to the superstar's writing.

"They speak so much and have so much story in them," he said.

Prevost is looking forward to seeing Brooks live with his full band for the first time this weekend.
