Low pressure system brings heavy rain to most of southern Sask.

Heavy rainfall is expected across most of thesouthern half of the province as a lowpressure system intensifies over Saskatchewan tonight.

According to Environment Canada, the slow-moving system is likely to produce about 20 to30 millimetres of rain overnight, and possibly much higher amounts in potentially severe thunderstorms.

Heavy rains are expected to continue Monday night and could produceclose to another 40 to50 millimetresof rain.

The exact area where the heaviest rainfall will occur is unknown, but Environment Canada predicts the amount of rainfall could exceed 100 millimetres within 48 hours.

Saskatoon and Regina are among the affected areas.
