With a sunrise reflected off of a crystal ice surface, Lac La Ronge Indian Band Chief Tammy Cook-Searson and herfamily sit in a canoe.

It's the scene of an epic photo which will be shared with all of their family and friends as a once-in-a-lifetime Christmas greeting.

"We would never be able to do that in December because usually we would have snow," Cook-Searson said. "The last time was about over 20 years ago when I saw the ice frozen like that, frozen like glass."

She explained how her husband went to check out the spot on the First Nation the day before the photoshoot in order to time out the sunrise. On Dec. 3, Cook-Searson's two daughters, grandchild, son, and husband woke up early and headed out to the perfect spot to meet photographer Kandis Riese.

For those not on their family's mailing list, Cook-Searson posted the photo on her Facebook page.

"People are just really blown away. Some people think its Photoshopped and it's not real," she said with a laugh.

"It might be our top Christmas photo."
