RCMP code of conduct review underway after 'concerning' arrest video surfaces

The Federation of Sovereign Indigenous Nations (FSIN) iscalling for an RCMP officer to be fired after a video of him swearing and pointing a gun at a man during an arrest surfaced online.

The video, which was shot on the weekendin the northern community of Pelican Narrows, shows an interaction between two police officers and an unidentified man.

In the clip, which spans only 10 seconds, an RCMP officer can be seen putting handcuffs on a man from behind while another stands over him, his weapon drawn.

The FSIN says there was noneed for theofficer to point his gun and say: "I'm gonnaf----ing kill you" and"Shut the f---kup."

In a Facebook post, the FSIN saidits executiveis calling for the officer's"immediate termination"and for charges to be laid.

"This video, which we have, clearly shows the racist and ignorant actions of this RCMP member in Pelican Narrows and reaffirms that racism still exists within the force," said the statement.

In a news release on June 30, RCMP said "some of the audio on the video is from one of the police officers making the arrest and the audio is concerning."

On Tuesday, Pelican Narrows RCMP sent out a second news release, revealing that they are aware of two videos circulating online, involving two different arrests by the same officer. RCMP said a code of conduct investigation is now in the works.

The officer featured in the videos has also been relocated outside of the community and "reassigned to non-frontline work, pending the outcome of the investigation."

The RCMP said it'salsoaware of a third incident involving the same officer.

A machete was seized during one of the incidents caught on tape, according to police.
