Organizers of a town hall meeting in Saskatoon say they want to hear your ideas for tackling climate change.

"Collective action is so important. It can be really easy to feel powerless. But when we gather together, we have a lot more power and influence," said Courtney Bowman of Climate Justice Saskatchewan.

The event starts Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. CST at Saskatoon's Albert Community Centre on Clarence Avenue. Dozens of similar meetings take place across Canada this month to talk about the Green New Deal, a national effort to slash emissions and create jobs in the renewable energy industry.

'I think any action is better than no action'

Bowman said shehopes the meeting will produce great ideas and inspire people to fight for change.

"I think any action is better than no action," Bowman said.

"It's going to take a concerted effort by everyone to hold government accountable."

Results from the town halls will be compiled by the Canadian umbrella organization, Pact for a Green New Deal, named for U.S. President Franklin Roosevelt's New Deal job creation plan of the 1930s. The ideas generated at the meetings will be used to lobby government officials to create better climate policy.
