Saskatoon fan says buzz building for red-hot Toronto Blue Jays

If the losing record of the old hometown green and white has you feeling a little blue, why not divert your gaze away from the gridiron and toward the boys of summer?

The Toronto Blue Jays are on a hot streak, and a Saskatoon super fan is thrilled.

Don Sparrow was a guest on CBC Radio's Saskatoon Morning.

"I am floating," he told the show's host Leisha Grebinski.

"We've waited a long time and this is pretty sweet."

To kick off the start of each baseball season, Sparrow hosts a big Blue Jays party and said that this year there was a real sense of optimism about the team. In fact, he said that he hasn't been this excited about the team since he was 13yearsold and the Jays won the World Series.

Sparrow said there is a buzz in Saskatoon about the team and he invited suffering Roughrider fans to join the growing number of baseball enthusiasts.

"There is lots of room on the bandwagon."

"I hear more people talking about it," he said. "Certainly when the Blue Jays make a big trade or deal my phone blows up and so there is some excitement that way, and so I think it's palpable, the excitement."

The Blue Jays haven't made the playoffs in 22years, but are now alone in first place in the American League East.
