Saskatoon police investigating city's first homicide of 2016

Last Friday, police were called to a house at 1501 Preston Avenue South where they found a 29-year-old man badly injured. Police said he was pronounced dead in the hospital.

Police in Saskatoon are investigating the city's first homicide of 2016.

Last Friday, police were called to a house at 1501 Preston Ave.S. shortly after 1 a.m. CST.

Officers found a 29-year-old man badly injured andhe was pronounced dead in the hospital shortly after.

A 36-year-old woman was taken into custody, but today police said that she had been released pending further investigation by the Major Crime Unitand the chief coroner.

According to police, the woman and the victim lived in the same duplex.

Police said the name of the victim will not be released at the request of the family.
