Stolen vehicle chase starts in Sask. farmyard, ends in foot pursuit in Saskatoon

A vehicle stolen from Rosthern, Sask., was chased out of a farmyard west of Saskatoon before being tracked from the air in a chase that ended when the vehicle hit a parked car.

A vehicle stolen from Rosthern, Sask.approximately 65 kilometres northeast of Saskatoonwas chased out of a farmyard west of Saskatoon before being tracked from the air in a chase that ended when the vehicle hit a parked car.

Saskatoon police received a call about a suspicious vehicle headed towards the north end of the city at about 4:30 a.m. CST on Saturday.

According to the police service,the vehicle had earlier been chased out of a farmyard in an incident handled by the RCMP.

Using the air support unit to track the vehicle and assist the response on the ground, Saskatoon police located and attempted to stop the vehicle.

Butthey had to abort the ground pursuit because the driver of the vehicle fled at high speed, making it unsafe to continue.

The air support unit continued to follow the vehicle until it hit a parked car on Matheson Drive.

Police said two malesuspects fled the vehicle but officers tracked them down with the help of the canine unit and guidance from the air.

Two males, aged 20 and 16, are in custody and facing numerous charges including evading police, possession of stolen property over $5,000,possession of break and enter tools, weapons-related offences, warrants and breaches of a court order.

The 20-year-old man was treated for a dog bite.
