University of Saskatchewan to hold pep rally for Huskies after basketball championship win

The University of Saskatchewan is holding a pep rally Wednesday morning at the Physical Activity Complex for the Huskies women's basketball team.

The University of Saskatchewan is holding a pep rally Wednesdaymorning at the Physical Activity Complex for the Huskies women's basketball team.

The team won its first-ever national titleSundayin Fredericton, N.B.

The Huskies won the national title Sundayafter defeating the Ryerson Rams from Toronto with afinal score of 85-71.
After the game, Huskies head coach Lisa Thomaidis was emotional. In her 17th season as coach, she said a championshipwas the only thing missing from her career.

"It's something these girls are going to remember for the rest of their lives," she said. "[It's] something our program and our school is going to take a lot of pride in forever."

The Huskies arrive back in Saskatoon from Fredericton tonightaround 10p.m.CST and will be holding a media conference.
