CBC's Comfort and Joy campaign connects artist Wilf Perreault with community

Wilf Perreault has again teamed up with CBC to help raise money for food banks in Saskatchewan this holiday season.

"It makes me feel really good, actually," the Regina artist told CBC Radio's Morning Edition host Sheila Coles. "I'm so thankful that I can do this. And it makes me feel part of the community."

For the CBC's 2016 Comfort and Joy campaign, Perreault has donated a piece, titled Moonlit, for auction.

Perreault described it as a small painting. The acrylic on aluminum features Perreault's signature style of lighting, which he said continues to be important in his work.

"In this case here, it's the light from the city lights with the moon and the lights from the houses."

Another piece of Perreault's is also featured on a mug being sold for the campaign. It's three works of art, which Perreault explained was originally done on aluminum doors.

"That was fun to play with because it's a different format that door frame is an amazing frame for a painting."

Three different colours are used for the sky, which Perreault said he had his daughter pick out.

CBC Saskatchewan is opening its doors on Friday for the 16th annual CBC/Radio-Canada Open House and Food Bank Day in Regina at 2440 Broad St. Mugs will be available for purchase.
