Cinfest Sudbury features short films on shortest day of the year

This weekend marks the winter solstice, also known as the shortest day of the year. To celebrate, Cinfest Sudbury is hosting a free film festival featuring short films.

This weekend marks the winter solstice, also known as the shortest day of the year. To celebrate, Cinfest Sudbury is hosting afestival featuring short films.

Sudbury is among more than 60 venues across Canada to featureThe Shortest Day family program a free-admission short film program.

In collaboration with Telefilm Canada, The National Film Board of Canada, SODEC Qubec and Science North, Cinfest Sudbury will present ninefamily-friendly short films from award-winning filmmakers, including Josef and Aime, a Cinfest Sudbury International Film Festival 2014 Official Selection. The rest of the lineup includes:

  • The Danish Poet[Torill Kove, Canada, 2007, 15 minutes]
  • Sleeping Betty[Claude Cloutier, Canada, 2007, 9 minutes]
  • The Sweater[Sheldon Cohen, Canada, 1980, 10 minutes]
  • The Bear Facts[Jonathan Wright, Canada, 2010, 4 minutes]
  • The Great Thinkers[Karina Garcia Casanova, Canada, 2009, 8 minutes, in French with English Subtitles]
  • Josef and Aime[Ben Shirinian, Canada, 2014, 16 minutes, in French with English Subtitles]
  • Godhead[Connor Gaston, Canada, 2014, 10 minutes]
  • The Magic Ferret[Alison Parker, Canada, 2013, 12 minutes]
  • In Your Heart[Raymond Caplin, Canada, 2012, 3 minutes]

The Shortest Day films will bescreened at the Science North Vale Cavern located at Science North on Saturday, December 20thstarting at 2:00 p.m.
