City daycare could be up for grabs in Sudbury

Sudbury city councillors will tackle some big questions about certain municipal services including whether or not the city should be in the daycare business.

Sudbury city councillors will tackle some big questions about certain municipal services including whether or not the city should be in the daycare business.

A report on the city-run Junior Citizens Daycare says one option is for the city to get another agency to run the service it has provided for 40 years.

At a meeting Monday, councillors are expected to look at the costs of the city running two summer camps, five fitness centres and three trailer parks.

The trailer parks were under scrutiny last year, after it was revealed they cost taxpayers $50,000.

After council voted to hike the rates for this season, a staff report shows this year's losses will likely be closer to $7,000.
