Laurentian University's pool closed for repairs

Swimmers looking to dive into the pool at Laurentian University in Greater Sudbury will have to wait a few days.

The Jeno Tihanyi Olympic Gold pool is closed while some repairs aremade to overhead lighting, according to Phil Parker, the head coach of the Laurentian Masters Swim Program.

The school decided to close the pool after a plastic cover fell off one of the lights a few nights ago, Parker said. School officials decided to remove the rest of the covers and replace any burned out light bulbs.

The downtime at the pool isn't expected to have a major impact on swim programming, Parker said, as it's the university's reading week.

On its website, the school's athletics department is advising people to watch for updates about the pool online.
