73-year-old man riding a mobility scooter killed in a crash in Sudbury

A 73-year-old man in Sudbury, Ont., using a mobility scooter, was killed when hit by a vehicle on Sunday night at one of the city's busiest intersections.

Police say impairment from drugs or alcohol was not a factor in the crash

A 73-year-old man on a mobility scooter was killed Sunday night in Sudbury when he was involved in a crash at one of the city's busiest intersections.

Police and EMS were called around 8:30 pm, and paramedics started life-saving measures on the manas he was rushed to hospital, but he died of his injuries.

The collision occurred at the corner of Lasalle Boulevard and Barrydowne Road.

The Greater Sudbury Police Service traffic management unit is investigating the crash. Police said that based on the investigation so far, they've determined impairment from drugs or alcohol was not a factor.

Police have also not laid charges so far.

The man's identity will not be released out of respect for his family's wishes.
