Work continues on the roll-out of a large-scale medical marijuana grow-op in Sudbury that was expected to open last spring.

The financial consultant with the company, known as 6-8-2 R-X Incorporated, said the grow-op will be located in the Walden Industrial Park.

Bob Bateman told CBC News last May the project was close to opening then, but it still does not have a licence.

Thats because they've been busy answering questions from Health Canada, he said.

But the owners, Trevor and Lynn Johnston, are determined.

They're bright young folks who want to be there with a new opportunity for the community and for themselves, Bateman said.

The owners are putting about $750,000 into a building in the industrial park over the winter.

The owners will refurbish the building that will be occupied, prepare it for lighting, extreme heat and cooling requirements, he said.

There's a pretty significant investment involved.

Bateman now estimates they'll be dispensing medical marijuana next summer.
