North Bay man charged with animal cruelty, faces 10-year ban from owning pets

A North Bay man has been found guilty on animal cruelty charges and banned from owning animals for 10 years.

North Bay Humane Society reported that a North Bay man has been charged with animal cruelty after his dog was left to starve. (www.northbayhumanesociety.ca)

A North Bay man has been found guilty of animal cruelty chargesand banned from owning animals for 10 years.

The North Bay and District Humane Society says the man didn'tcomply with an order to seek veterinary care for his dog, which hadbecome emaciated after eating a stone.

The humane society says the dog, which it seized, was brought toa veterinarian who found a stone, about three centimetres squared,blocking its digestive tract.

After emergency surgery, the dog recovered and has been adoptedout to a different family.
