Questions part of survey about health and phys-ed curriculum

Ontario is taking another crack at revising itssex-ed curriculum.

The province is asking parents to review its new health and physical education curriculum, which includes sex education.

One parent from every elementary school will be asked to provide feedback on those lessons.

The province says that information will be used to determine at what level certain sex information such as same-sex marriage should be taught.

'We need to be careful'

Sister Pat Carter, the religion and family life education consultation for the Huron-Superior Catholic District School Board, says she'll be looking forward to learning how teachers are directed to prompt conversations about sexuality with their students.

"We need to be careful that we don't put our children in bubbles, but ...we just need to be really sensitive to what everybody is comfortable with.

The new curriculum will be introduced to classrooms next September 2015.

The province attempted to revise sexual education in 2010, but it was shelved after being met by public backlash due to religious concerns.
