Officials with the seasonal farmers' market in Sudbury, Ont. say they're looking for more vendors to sell their wares as the kick-off to the 2017 season draws closer.

This year's market promises one substantial change, namely, a new Thursday evening time slot to replace the Sunday market.

"We're hoping to attract a new segment of the population to come and shop at the farmer's market, namely people who go to camp on the weekend," Colleen Burns, the market's manager said.

The Thursday market will run from 3 p.m. to 7 p.m., starting July 6, Burns said, and will be held at the municipal parking lot on York Street.

She added that the weekday slot is set to offer a different feel.

"I think it's going to have a little bit more of a grassroots kind of feel to it," she said. "'Cause we don't have any permanent facilities there, it's going to be just a little bit more gritty and grassroots."

Market officials hosted an open house Wednesday to try and sign up new vendors and to encourage people who have sold their goods before to return.

The Saturday market will return starting June 3 at its Elgin Street location and will be open from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
