Elderly woman critically injured, Sudbury police say no charges expected

Greater Sudbury police will not be laying any charges after a collision Monday afternoon, in which an elderly woman, who was crossing the street, was critically injured.

An elderly woman remains in critical condition after she was hit by a car while crossing the street on Monday afternoon.

Greater Sudbury Police are continuing to investigate the collision that happenedon Notre Dame Avenue at King Street, butstated in a written release that after watching video surveillance footage from the intersection and talking with witnesses, they will not be laying any charges in the incident,

Police said the driver of the vehicle was travelling within the posted speed limit and had the right of way at the intersection at the time of the collision.

However, police are asking anyone who saw the crash, and who has not spoken to an investigator, to contact them.
