Justin Trudeau to be in Sudbury tomorrow as part of northern Ontario tour

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will be visiting northern Ontario on Thursday and CBC News has learned the Prime Minister will be making an announcement after that meeting.

Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will be visiting northern Ontario on Thursday and CBC News has learned the Prime Minister will be making an announcement after that meeting.

Trudeau will fly in to Sudbury Thursday afternoon, and will speak to city councillors between 3-4 p.m.

Sudbury's Liberal MP Paul Lefebvre said the prime minister is in the north to discuss the federal budget and the impact it will have on Canadians.

"I know for Sudbury he's going to be talking about ... the infrastructure issues that we have here," he said.

It's expected Trudeauwill announce funding for a major road construction project. MPs in the area have been pushing for federal dollars to extend Maley Drive. The extension would create an alternate east-west route in the city's north end. The city and provincial government have already each committed $27 million towardthe project.

Trudeau will also make a stop in Sault Ste. Marie later in the day.
