Driver dies after car crash with horses

Provincial police are reporting the driver of the motor vehicle that crashed into two horses on Highway 17 has died as a result of her injuries.

Vermilion Bay's Crystal Machendagoos, 38,suffered life-threatening injuries after a Friday nightcollision near Dryden.

Dryden OPPreported that,just after 8 p.m. Friday,a white Chevrolet car travellingeast onHighway 17crashed into two horsesstandingin the Eastbound lane.

Machendagoos was airlifted to hospital in Thunder Bay.A passenger was treated and released from the Dryden Health Centre.

One horse died at the scene and the other was expected to make a full recovery.
