Police shocked to find so many drivers speeding through Community Safety Zone

Just a day after catching 15 drivers speeding near the Health Sciences Centre, Thunder Bay police nabbed 25 more.

Police set up a radar unit on Oliver Road near the hospital entrance Wednesday. More than two dozen drivers were clocked travelling at more than 20 km/h over the speed limit and this was just in a four-hour period.

The previous day, 15 motorists were caught, including one who was travelling 100 km/h. Another driver was clocked at 90 km/h.

A police spokesperson said officers were shocked to find so many drivers speeding in a posted Community Safety Zone, particularly considering the widespread media coverage of the large number of tickets handed out the day before.
