Thunder Bay police officers are in Ottawa today, along with RCMP members from the Thunder Bay detachment, to conduct interviews in the wake of an alleged sexual assault in the northwestern Ontario city last month.

The interview subjects are people connected to the University of Ottawa hockey program, police say.

This phase of the investigation into the alleged incident on Feb. 1is expected to take several days.

Thunder Bay police spokesperson Chris Adams said the people being interviewed in Ottawa include "any [hockey] players who are deemed to be relevant. Certainly anyone who either was a player with the team or connected to the team, who may have information which will help further this investigation."

Last week the university suspended its hockey program because of the allegation.

Thunder Baypolice have also confirmed, for the first time, that a woman currently living in Thunder Bayis the victim in the alleged assault.

Adams said investigators have been in contact with her throughout the investigation.
