Tour de France jersey to stay at Thunder Bay hospital

A controversial jersey donated by disgraced cyclist Lance Armstrong will remain on display in the Thunder Bay Regional Health Sciences Centre.

The hospital announced that decision late Monday morning, saying it would comment on the matter on Tuesday.

The framed and autographed jersey is mounted on a wall in the regional cancer centre, just outside the chemotherapy room.

In January, Cancer Care Northwest said it was reviewing whether the shirt should remain on display, after receiving some complaints from patients.

The Tour de France jersey was brought to the hospital in 2006 by Thunder Bay firefighters who wanted Armstrong's successful battle with cancer to serve as an inspiration.

The hospital said it will discuss the rationale for the decision at a media conference Tuesday afternoon.
