Random Toronto stabbing suspect ID'd as Rohinie Bisesar, victim in 'grave condition'

Toronto police haveidentified thesuspect inan unprovoked Friday stabbing that left a woman critically injuredin the financial district on Fridayas 40-year-old Rohinie Bisesar.

"We believe this to be a completely unprovoked attack," said Const. David Hopkinson.

Police asked for the public's help in finding her after she allegedly stabbed another woman for no apparent reason inside a Shoppers Drug Mart located in the PATH system below Bay and Wellington streets.

The victim was taken to a trauma centre with life-threatening injuries.

"She remains in grave condition, she's not doing well,"Hopkinsonsaid.

The suspectbrought a knife into the store and then stabbed the victimaround 2:55 p.m., police said.

Police say Bisesar was not previously known to them and they have no indication that the victim and the suspectknew each other.

"We know she has some ties to the financial district in downtown Toronto and we're asking the community to help locate her,"Hopkinsonsaid of the suspect.

Bisesaris wanted for attempted murder.

"I can confirm that Rohinie Bisesar received a Bachelor of Administrative Studies degree in 2004 and a Masters of Business Administration degree in 2007," said Joanne Rider, a York University spokesperson, in a statement. "We are not able to provide further comment."

A LinkedIn profile that appears to belong to Bisesar says she held several positions as an employeeat York University between 1999-2007, including as systems administrator, technical information analyst, web communications coordinator and chair of the Schulich Women in Leadership club.

The LinkedIn profile also lists Bisesar as chair of a sub-committee for Women in Capital Markets, a networking association, between 2011-2013.

"She was superb both for the outstanding quality of her work and for her warmth and interpersonal skills," said a former colleague and a York University associate professor, Georges Monette, in a recommendation on her profile.

Monette confirmed to CBC News that those were his comments and that he knew her but declined to say anything further.

Police are asking the public to call 911 if she is located and not to approach her.
