Boy struck and killed by vehicle near Kennedy and Steeles

Toronto police say an 11-year-old boy is dead after being struck by a vehicle near Kennedy Road and Steeles Avenue.

An 11-year-old boyis deadafterbeingstruck by a vehicle near Kennedy Road and Steeles Avenue, according to police.

The incident happened at CanongateTrail andPurcell Square around 3:30p.m. on Tuesday.

The boywastaken to hospital inlife-threatening condition but died ofhis injuries,Toronto policeConst. ClintStibbetoldCBCToronto.

He saidthe boywas a student at Kennedy Public School and was struck when crossing the road.

The driver of the vehicle remained on scene.

Authorities closed the intersection ofCanongateTrail andPurcell Squarefor about three hours to investigate the incident, Stibbe said.

Any witnesses are asked to contact police.
