How should you recycle your old electronic gadgets?

For many, the holiday season brings new gadgets into the home. But what happens, and what should happen, to all those old electronic devices when their time has come?

Shift Recycling founder Gary Diamond says his company, which takes in e-waste for companies and individuals, sees an increase in volume after Boxing Day and New Year's Eve.

"The next few weeks are going to be pretty busy for us which, to be honest, we like," Diamond told CBC News.

The city also collects electronic waste. But Beth Goodger, general manager of solid waste management, says the city also encourages people to share the wealth.

"If you can reuse them, sell your old electronics, give them away to friends, charities," Goodger said.
