Homicide investigators have released images of the moments following the fatal shooting of a 28-year-old woman in Vaughan earlier this week, hoping someone can identify the alleged shooter as he drives away.

Mila Barberi, who recently celebrated her 28th birthday, was pronounced dead in hospital on Tuesday. A40-year-old man who was with Barberi also suffered a gunshot wound, but police later described the man's injuries as minor.

The photos released by York Regional Police Thursday show the suspect dressed entirely in dark clothing. He stands about 6'2", weighs roughly 250 pounds and covered his face during the attack, police say.

Given the way in which the suspect disguised himself, it appears the shooting may have been a professional hit, a police source told CBC Toronto.

Video footage follows a dark Jeep Grand Cherokee, which the suspect used to drive away from the shooting scene on Caster Avenue near Weston Road. Someone called 911 at 4:12 p.m. to report hearing gunshots in that area.

Police say they have already interviewed those who witnessed the shooting and its aftermath. But homicide detectives have askedthat anyone they either didn't speak with or who recognizes something from the images to contact them at 1-866-876-5423 ext. 7865.

Investigators have not commented on the relationship between Barberi and the other victim.

The woman's friends, however, remembered heras "a bright soul," and "a shining light in an unkind world."

"Mila my love, I don't understand how this happened," wrote one woman, who said she spent two years working with Barberi. "I will always miss your smiling face."
