Over 400 flights cancelled at Pearson as Toronto gets 1st major snowfall of season

Over 400 flights have been cancelled at Toronto's Pearson International Airport amid the city's first major snowfall of the season.

Air travellers are being urged to check flight status before heading to airport

Over 400 flights have been cancelled at Toronto's Pearson International Airport due to the city's first major snowfall of the season.

According to the Greater Toronto Airports Authority,194arriving flights and 208departing flights were cancelled on Tuesday as of 8:54 p.m.

The authority is urging air travellers on its website to check their flight status before heading to the airport.

"Snow is in the forecast and flight schedules may be impacted," its website reads.

Environment Canada says some areas of the city reportedly received betweeneight to 10 centimetres of snow as of 4 a.m., with another five centimetres possible when snow tapered off to flurries later Tuesday morning.
