Moka caf shooting: Jason Hay wanted for first-degree murder

York Regional Police issued a Canada-widearrest warrant for the man they allege shot two people to death and wounded two more inside Vaughan's Moka cafearlier this summer.

Police say Jason Hay, 27, of Mississauga is wanted in connection with the slayings.

Christopher deSimone, 24, a regularcafpatron,and MariaVoci, 47, who worked at the eatery, werekilled when a gunman opened fire on the morning of June 24.

York police have said the shooting appears to be targeted, but have not said who the target was. The police investigation also revealed an illegal gambling operation was being run out of the back of the caf.

Shortly after the shooting, police released numerous surveillance camera images of the suspect, who covered his face with a grey hoodie during the attack.

York Regional Police found the Nissan Versa used as a getaway car which they say was stolen from Napanee, Ont. in June abandoned in an Etobicoke parking lot on July 1.

Police on Friday urged Hay to get a lawyer and turn himself in immediately. Police also warned anyone who helpsHay avoid police could be charged with accessory to a crime after the fact.

Const. Andy Pattenden wouldn't say how police identified Hay, but said investigators had received a large number of tips in the case.

Pattenden also said Hay hasrun afoul of the law before, though he declined to give specifics.

Police consider Hay to bearmed and dangerous, and warned the public to contact 911 if they see him.
