Homicide victim ID'd as Sharanjeet Kaur after 2 found dead inside Brampton home

Peel police have identified the victim of a Brampton slayingas Sharanjeet Kaurafter a 35-year-old man allegedly killed her and then took his own life on Monday.

Peel police have identified the victim of a Brampton slayingas Sharanjeet Kaurafter a 35-year-old man allegedly killed her and then took his own life on Monday.

That manhas since been identified asNavdeep Singhof Brampton.

"At this time investigators are not seeking any further suspects and this investigation is ongoing," Peel police said in a news release Tuesday.

The pair were found dead inside a home on Bighorn Crescent in Brampton around 2 p.m. Monday, after police received a medical distress call.

According to Insp. Martin Ottaway, a friend of the 27-year-old victim reported her missing to Toronto police earlier that day.

Police saidKaur's death was a homicide later Monday.

Ottaway said the man and woman were previously in an intimate relationship, but he could not comment on the status of their relationship as of their deaths. Neither had any previous contact with police in Peel or Toronto, he added.

"This is the first we came aware of obviousissues between them," he said.

13 domestic homicides in Peel this year

Ottawaysaid that of the 27 homicides in Peel in 2019, 13 of them have been domestic in nature, involving either family members or people in intimate relationships.

"Any one of them istroubling," he said.

"My message to women, or for that matter any family member that's involved in domestic issues, is that there is help out there for them and to use those resources."
