Less than a week left to donate to CBC Toronto's Sounds of the Season

Last year, Sounds of the Season raised more than $600,000 and collected 40,000 pounds of food for local food banks. CBC hopes to top those figures this year, with plans to collect donations and food until Dec. 31.

The drive has raised $505,000 and 20,553 pounds of food so far

Less than a week remains to supportSounds of the Season,CBC Toronto's annualcharity drive for local food banks.

The drive hasraised$505,000 and20,553 pounds of food so far. Itbegan onDec. 4 with a day oflive television, radio and music,raising $310,000 on that day alone.

The kick-off saw thousandsarrive at the Canadian Broadcasting Centre some as early as3 a.m. to ensure they gota seat to see the special live programming.

Hundreds also brought food donations along with them, totaling 15,190 pounds by the end of the day.

Last year, Sounds of the Seasonraised more than $600,000 and collected40,000 pounds of food.
