Man charged with 2nd-degree murder in Scarborough stabbing

A man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with a stabbing in Scarborough on Sunday, Toronto police said.Police responded to a call for a stabbing at a residence near Ellesmere and Orton Park roads around 4:50 p.m.

A man has been charged with second-degree murder in connection with a stabbing in Scarborough on Sunday, Toronto police said.

Police responded to a call for a stabbing at a residence near Ellesmere and Orton Park roads around 4:50 p.m., police said in a news release Monday.

The victim was attacked with an edged weapon and was pronounced dead at the scene, the release said.

Police have identified the victim as Dushi Lakshmanan, 54, of Toronto.

The accused, 50, also of Toronto, is scheduled to appear in court on Monday morning.

Police saidthe victim and accused are known to each other but did not specify their relationship.
