The campaign team for Toronto mayoral candidate Sarah Thomson says she is not dropping out of the race, despite published reports suggesting she is consideringwithdrawing to stop Rob Ford from winning.

"No deals have been suggested or made with regards to any candidate dropping out of the race," according to a statement emailed to CBC by her campaign team.

"Sarah's team has been in talks with other campaigns regarding what can be done to present a clear alternative to Rob Ford. We are showing leadership by reaching out and building consensus to ensure that Toronto's next mayor is not elected solely on a wave of anger. "

Ford is the frontrunner in the mayoral race by a wide margin according to recent public opinion polls a month away from the Oct. 25 election.

Former deputy premier George Smitherman, who opinion polls suggestis running second in the race, has said he's the only candidate who can stop Ford.
