Toronto road closures in effect for Blue Jays game

The Toronto Blue Jays are hosting another playoff game at the dome and that means police will be shutting down roads in the downtown core on Wednesday.

Avoid area around Rogers Centre if possible, police say

The Toronto Blue Jays are hosting another playoff game at the dome and thatmeans police will be shutting down roads in the downtown core on Wednesday.

In a news release, police say road closures will be in effect after Game 5 of the American League Divisional Series. The post-season showdown between the Jays and the Texas Rangersis set to begin at 4:07 p.m.

Local police are expecting nearly 50,000 fans to pack into the Rogers Centre, which will have aclosed roof today. The following road closures will take effect after the final pitch:

  • Blue Jays Way will have a partial road closure for southbound trafficfrom Front Street West to Navy Wharf Court.
  • Bremner Boulevard will have a partial road closurefor eastbound trafficfrom Spadina Avenue to Rees Street.
  • Bremner Boulevard will have a full road closurefor eastbound trafficfrom Rees Street to Lower Simcoe Street.
  • Bremner Boulevard will have a full road closure for westbound traffic from Lower SimcoeStreetto Navy Wharf Court.

Here's the advice authorities are sharing with the public for getting around the city:

  • Make use of alternate routes.
  • Utilize public transit.
  • Carpool where possible.
  • Avoid the Rogers Centre area, if possible.
  • Be courteous to others while travelling.
  • Give yourself plenty of time.
