TTC splits King Streetcar route into 2 during TIFF opening weekend

The King streetcar route has been split into two for the first weekend of the Toronto International Film Festival.

Transit agency will service modified route Thursday through Sunday

The King streetcar route has been split into two for the first weekend of theToronto International Film Festival.

TIFF festivities have closedpart of King Street West for a second straight year. As a result, the TTC is notservicingany streetcar or bus stops between University andSpadina Avenues from Sept. 8-11.

Instead, there areeastern and western loops for the streetcars.Rush-hour buses that serve the route arediverting around the festival closures.

Here's how the closure will affect your routes this weekend, according to the TTC:

504 King streetcar

  • WestStreetcars will travel from Dundas West Station along King Streetand turn back via Spadina Avenue, Adelaide Streetand Charlotte Street.
  • East Streetcars will travel from Broadview Station along King Streetand turn back via Church, Wellington and York Streets.

504 King supplemental buses

  • Eastbound along King Streetand diverting via Spadina Avenue, Adelaide Streetand University Avenueto route.
  • Westbound along King Streetand diverting via University Aveune, Richmond Streetand Spadina Avenue.

514 Cherry and 304 King night streetcars

  • Eastbound along King Streetand diverting via Spadina Avenue, Queen Street and Church Street.
  • Westbound along King Streetand diverting via York Street, Queen Streetand Spadina Ave.

304 King bus bridge from2 a.m. to 6 a.m.

  • West via University Avenue,Richmond Street, Spadina Avenue. and Adelaide StreetWestto route.
  • East via Parliament Street, Front Streetand Sherbourne Streetto route.

The TTC said it will have employees positioned around the route to help anyone requiring assistance with route planning.
