Woman escapes attempted kidnapping at Vaughan Mills mall: police

Woman escaped with minor injuries, police say. They say the incident was targeted and there is no threat to public safety.

Police in York Region say they'reinvestigating the attempted kidnapping of a woman around noon Friday at Vaughan Mills mall.

In a Friday afternoon post to X, formerly Twitter, York Regional Police said the victim suffered minor injuries, but managed to escape the assailants.

Police are now looking for at least four suspects dressed in black. They are also seeking a suspect vehicle, a blue Honda Civic they say was stolen out of Toronto.

The incident was targeted, police said, and there is no threat to public safety.

The investigation is ongoing and anyone with information or video of the incident is asked to come forward to police.
