Talk about polar opposites on this day, last year we had just over 17 centimetres of snow.

Are you basking in the milder temperatures or want snow already?

Talk about polar opposites on this daylast year we had just over 17 centimetres of snow.

Fortunately (or unfortunately, depending on how you feel aboutsnow), we have none of the white stuff.

Instead, we saw a record high Friday of14C, which broke the old record of13.2C set in 1979 on this day, according to CBC Toronto meteorologist Jay Scotland.

Scotland says a "particularly strongElNio is likely the driving influence behind this."

ElNio is aphenomenon in which aband of warm ocean waterdevelops in the central and east-central equatorial Pacific.

"Historically, ElNio's impact across much of Canada, including here in the GTA, means warmer than normal conditions during the our cooler months," Scotlandsaid.

So far in December, temperatures have been above normal every day.

In November, temperatures were above the seasonal average for 22 out of 30 days, says Scotland.
