Woman gets life sentence in torture death

A woman who helped torture and kill a 16-year-old Orangeville boy was sentenced to life in prison Thursday after pleading guilty to a charge of first-degree murder.

Terry Anne Baker, 20, will serve at least 10 years in prison before she is eligible for parole.

The court heard that Robbie McLennan was tortured, sodomized and beaten for at least three hours by Baker and two accomplices before he died in the early hours of April 19, 2002.

Baker was just 16 when she participated in McLennan's murder.

Her name was covered by a publication ban until Thursday. The ban was lifted when she was sentenced as an adult for killing McLennan.

Her then-boyfriend, who was 21 at the time, was also convicted of first-degree murder in October.

William Bronson Penasse will not be eligible for parole for 25 years.

Another defendant, who was also 16 at the time, was sentenced last year to 18 months in prison after being convicted of second-degree murder.

His identity remains covered by a publication ban.
