2 charged as OPP seize handguns, drugs, $120K cash in Tecumseh

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say they'veseized four handguns and approximately $120,000 in cash after executing a search warrant in Tecucumseh.

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) say they'veseized four handguns and approximately $120,000 in cash after executing a search warrant in Tecumseh.

Two individuals are facing numerous firearm and drug-related charges.

The OPPOrganized Crime Enforcement Bureau (OCEB) began an investigation into the trafficking of cocaine and opioids in Essex County on Tuesday, police said in a news release issued Friday.

Police seized:

  • Four handguns, one of which was loaded.
  • A conducted energy weapon.
  • Suspected cocaine with an estimated street value of $20,000
  • Approximately 5,700 oxycodone tablets
  • $120,000 in Canadian currency

A 47-year-old fromTecumseh has been charged with 30 offences, includingunauthorized possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm; careless storage of a firearm and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The accused is in custody awaiting a court datein Windsor on Oct.1.

A 69-year-old, also from Tecumseh,has been charged with 26 offences, including possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose, possession of a prohibited or restricted firearm with ammunition and possession for the purpose of trafficking.

The accused was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in Windsor on Nov. 27.

Police are asking anyone with any information about the possession, manufacturing or trafficking of illegal drugs or firearms to contact the OPP or Crime Stoppers.
